We can create training materials such as CD-based courses that can be worked on alone or as part of a workshop.

Specific examples of this are the VAO Basic Bookkeeping Course and its successor the Treasurer's Toolkit.

These CDs open in a web browser so that no special software is required to run the course, and have the OpenOffice software suite bundled ready to install so that the spreadsheet examples can be worked on without necessarily having Microsoft Office.

Case Study: Treasurer's Toolkit

The Treasurer's Toolkit is a CD-based training course to instruct treasurers of community and voluntary groups in basic bookkeeping and accounts skills. The basic principles are outlined with respect to the accounts of a fictional group, and additional information given to show how this can be automated using spreadsheets. Example worksheets and exercises on the CD build up a set of accounts for a year and lead up to a balance sheet that works itself out.
